HPIB 2024 Playoff Pool Raises $2,000 for Charity

Cleveland Chapter Wins Chapter Competition, Will Donate Funds to ASHA’s Cleveland Rockin’ Wildcats

A giant THANK YOU goes out to those that signed up for the 2024 HPIB NHL Playoff Pool!  We had 194 entries, from all over the country, and because of that we have raised $1,940 for charity!  The Cleveland chapter had the most number of entries (51), so we are going to donate that amount, rounded up to $2,000 to the Cleveland Rockin’ Wildcats, which is the Cleveland team for the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA) https://www.specialhockey.org/.

ASHA is an amazing organization that has over 8,000 athletes between the ages of 5 and 70, it is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities through the sport of hockey. I’ve seen firsthand the impact that hockey has on these athletes, and it truly brightens their life as they love playing the game of hockey and being part of a team.  ASHA is the main beneficiary of the HPB Charity Hockey tournament that we host every year in April. This year’s tournament is this coming weekend, and we hope to raise over $75,000.

We have an amazing auction with rare bourbons, hockey or golf experiences, signed jerseys etc. I’ll be sure to circulate the auction site later this week in case you want to bid on any items.  You don’t need to be attending the tournament to participate in the auction which is part of the tournament party on Saturday, April 27th. This year’s tournament sold out the first week of December 2023, and of the 128 participants, over 65 are coming from outside of Cleveland, literally from all over the country.

If you are not a member of Hockey Players in Business, please consider joining as it is only $50 a year (tax deductible). We have 29 chapters around the country, almost 1,000 paid members and we have given over $330,000 to hockey related causes around the country to support and grow the game.  We have no employees and for every $1 we receive, 97% of that goes back out to charity.  Sign up today at https://hockeyplayersinbusiness.org/join.
